Management Plan Skills Assessment (MPSA) is an alternative to the traditional written management plan required for the CPM® designation. As part of the overall requirements, students must either prepare a management plan on an actual property or attend the Management Plan Skills Assessment (MPSA). Like the traditional written management plan, the MPSA is a comprehensive evaluation of the knowledge and skills required to be a CPM®. All of the skills required to complete a traditional written management plan will be required to complete the Management Plan Skills Assessment. Lasting two days, the Management Plan Skills Assessment has three components. The morning of the first day starts with the Concept Evaluation. Students will begin the assessment process by answering a series of questions with essay type answers. The afternoon of that first day starts with students receiving information about a property type (office building or residential). Students will then have the rest of the day to review the property information and work with other participants who are working on the same property type. At the beginning of the second day, students will be presented with additional information about the property and given a management scenario. Using the information given on the first day, and this additional information, students will prepare written essay answers to a series of questions that are designed to measure the students’ ability to demonstrate the command of the skills needed to complete a workable management plan.
